Carolyn Jean (Wendt) Baxter was born March 17, 1949, to Melvin and Anna (Malone) Wendt in Denison, Iowa. Carolyn attended Charter Oak, Dow City, Denison and Woodbine Schools. Carolyn married Dennis Baxter on June 16, 1967, celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary this past summer. Carolyn worked at Rose Vista Nursing Home when they lived in Woodbine as a med-aide. She worked for the Villa Nursing Home in David City, Nebraska as an aide as well until her retirement.

Carolyn loved her granddaughters, horses, Indian artifacts and jewelry. She was also known for her cheesecake, pies, and peanut butter cookies.

Carolyn died unexpectedly on Friday, January 6, 2017, at the David City Community Hospital in David City, Nebraska at the age of 67 years, nine months, and 20 days.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Russell and Lela Baxter; infant brother, Roger Wendt; sister, Joyce McFerrin and sister-in-law, Robbi Wendt. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Baxter of David City, Nebraska; four children, Rick Baxter and his wife Esther of Centennial, Colorado, Rex Baxter, Mark Baxter and his wife Alesha and Danny Baxter and his wife Jeanna all of Woodbine, Iowa; three granddaughters, Sonya, Morgan and Daphne Baxter; three siblings, Joleen Leuth of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Randy Wendt of Woodbine, Iowa and Evelyn Summerfield of Dunlap, Iowa siblings-in-law, Ronnie Baxter of Council Bluffs, Wayne Baxter and his wife Janice, Sharon and her husband Roy Cooper and Gary Baxter and his wife Vicki all of Omaha, Nebraska, Connie Bauman of Fairfield, California and Linda and her husband Joe Schultz of Glendale Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.
