William "Bill" Scott Downey was born December 3, 1957, to Robert and Marilyn (Gunn) Downey in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in Woodbine and graduated from Woodbine High School in 1976. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for three years. Most of his time was spent in the Panama Canal area. After Bill's honorable discharge, he started working for the U.S. Post Office in Omaha, Nebraska. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and was the dealer at a craps table. He then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and was an over the road truck driver. Bill married Carol in Knoxville. Bill eventually returned to the Omaha area.

Bill enjoyed telling jokes, fishing and camping. He also loved small animals and listening to music. When Bill was younger he enjoyed being a member of the swim team. He enjoyed swimming the past few years as well. One of Bill's greatest enjoyments was cooking and of course eating.

Bill died Friday, February 9, 2018, of Lewey Body Dementia at the Life Care Center of Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, two months, and six days.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Robert Downey, Sr. and brother, Rob Downey. He is survived by his son, Matthew Borys of Omaha, Nebraska; mother, Marilyn Downey of Omaha, Nebraska; two sisters, Diane Downey of Omaha, Nebraska and Lynn Gregory of Fort Myers Beach, Florida; nephews, Jake Gibson and Ryan Downey; and many other relatives and friends.
