Audrey Mary (Petersen) Kline was born November 15, 1924, to John and LuLu (Smith) Petersen in Manilla, Iowa. Audrey attended country school and Denison High School. After her high school graduation she attended summer school in Denson and received her teaching degree. Audrey taught in several country schools. She also worked as a waitress, detassled corn several summers, and cleaned houses. She also was a caregiver to an elderly lady, washed dishes at the school in Dunlap, and was a house parent for WESCO in Denison. Audrey married Bennie L. Kline on June 6, 1948, at the Zion Church Parsonage in Denison, Iowa. The couple worked and lived on two different farms before moving to Dunlap in 1963.

Audrey was a member of the Congregational Church in Dunlap. She loved her grandchildren and she always had fresh cookies on the counter for them. She enjoyed bowling, dancing in her younger years, vacationing with her husband and family, playing cards, and watching her favorite television shows ~ CSI and Wheel of Fortune. She also enjoyed reading, church functions and was very active in serving the funeral lunches. Audrey found faith in the Lord through the ministry of her brother-in-law, Melvin Shirey, at the time of her mother's passing.

Audrey died on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at her home at the age of 92 years, seven months, and seven days.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ben Kline; granddaughter, Jammy Bonham; three brothers: Jack, Les and Alfred Petersen; two sisters: Bernice Olson and Clara Hatella; and son-in-law, Kenneth Bonham. She is survived by her three children, Benny E. (Gene) Kline and his wife Donis of rural Earling, Iowa, Johnele and her husband Jim Bonham of Dunlap, Iowa, and Mary Bonham of Dunlap, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorthy Shirey of Jackson Missouri and Retia Petersen of Woodbine, Iowa; sister-in-law, Loretta Petersen of Denison, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
