Tribute & Message From The Family

Boris Alex Christoff was born February 18, 1930, to Alex and Ustianka (Petroff) Christoff in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in the Chicago area and graduated from high school. Boris met Shirley Stehlik in Hastings, Nebraska where she was in teaching school. Boris was proudly serving his country in the U.S. Marines at the time. The couple enjoyed 64 years of marriage. Boris' life's work involved owning a meat packing company, and later in retirement, helping Alex with their food brokerage business.

Growing up in the city of Chicago, Boris always wanted to live in the country. His dream came true when he moved to rural Woodbine in 1993. Boris loved animals and earlier in life, when farming in Lansing, Iowa, he enjoyed riding horses. One of his favorite pastimes while living in Woodbine was raising goats.

Boris cherished the heritage of his mother and father who immigrated to this country in the early 1900's from Macedonia. He especially liked the food and the music of the culture. Family times with his children and grandchildren meant so much.

Boris enjoyed organizing golf outings and was on many committees at the Untied Methodist Church in Woodbine. Boris served on the Building, Finance, and Trustee Committees. His church community was important to him and he took comfort in receiving all the cards and letters from his friends.

Boris died on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the Nebraska Medical Center at the age of 88 years, two months, and seven days.

Boris was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Steve Christoff; sister, Helen Williams; and son, Phillip Christoff. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Christoff of Woodbine, Iowa; three children, Connie (Keith Kelly) Christoff and Cathy (Joseph Kaminski) Christoff all of Chicago, Illinois and Alex Christoff of Woodbine, Iowa; two grandsons, Mitchell and Daniel Kaminski; and many other relatives and friends.
